An Unusual Brass Grande Sonnerie Alarm Carriage Clock, circa 1850, case highly elaborate with floral and leaf decoration throughout, carrying handle and repeat button, base with acanthus leaves and leopards upon a central urn, enamel dial with Roman numerals, Breguet style hands, central alarm hand, unusual subsidiary hand below 6 for petite sonnerie/grande sonnerie/silent selections, twin barrel movement wound from the front, platform cylinder escapement stamped on the cock Fumey, striking on two bells, 18cm high over handle see illustration J-M Fumey was a maker of platform escapements in the mid 19th century. In the 1855 Paris Exhibition he was awarded a Bronze medal. 28.04.17, Glass panels with some chips, case surfaces are slightly discoloured in parts, left hand side with one screw missing, dial with one small hairline crack positioned below the left hand side winding hole, small scratches in parts and minor chips around the right hand side winding hole, movement is dirty and needs cleaning, striking barrel mainspring appears to have broken and unable to wind, the going barrel mainspring is fully wound, alarm is working, the strike work is not working and needs attention.

He also designed models for the Austrian ceramics manufacturer Keramos.

A World War I Military Medal group of four to 2081 Cpl James Henry Amson Royal Engineers, comprising 1914-15 Star named 'Spr J. Amson', with MM named '492017 Cpl J. Amson R.E'., BWM, VM, and bronze death plaque, he died from gas exposure. Accompanied by two typed transcripts for being 'Awarded' and 'rewarded' the MM dated 28th September 1918. His actions were: 'On September 21st 1918 during our attack on the German trenches, near Ronssoy, the enemy put down an intense bombardment on the forward areas which completely broke up our telephone lines. This N.C.O. went along and repaired all forward cables and in one case where 1500 yds had been completely blown out, carried up and relaid new cable under an incessant bombardment of shells and gas and eventually established communication. The cables were continually breaking and he worked on these faults for over thirteen hours with splendid courage and determination.' Mercantile Marine Service Association gold medals (2) to Captain William Harry Coombs (1893 - 1969) + 2 bronze Swedish Shipping Medals with some research. The oldest gold medal, which is not hallmarked, tests as nearly 18ct gold and weighs 30.8gms. Reads on the back "Awarded to W.H. Coombs for the greatest proficiency in all branches of training and education on board HMS Conway 1909". The other gold medal is fully hallmarked 9ct. gold, Birmingham, 1957 and weighs 39.6gms.
