Ferdinand Parpan (1902-2004), an Art Deco patinated bronze and ivory figure‘Notre Dame de Bon Secours’, c.1935, signed F. Parpan and titledModelled, cast and carved as the Madonna holding the infant Jesus, standing on a half globe and mounted on a stepped marble base29.5 cm high (ARR)Ivory: Hairline on the little finger of the hand supporting babies back. Some dirt in the crevices of the carving on the ivory. A few marks.Bronze: A few marks and abrasions, but surface colour overall in good and even condition.Marble: Some filled holes to the natural marble with some old/original repairs to fissures.Please note that this lot contains ivory. Ivory is an endangered material with very strict rules about export/import. If you plan to take this lot out of the UK please check with your shipper if you can before bidding. Some countries do not allow the importation or exportation of ivory. A Bill is due to become law in the UK in the near future that limits the buying and selling of ivory, but as this lot is pre-1947, and as we judge the ivory content as equal too or less than 10% of the whole, it will still be legal to sell it in the UK if the new rules go through as proposed. Duvernet, an Art Deco bronze figure 'Oblivion' on a marble plinth c.1925, engraved signature 'Duvernet' on top of plinth Modelled and cast as the figure of a crouching woman holding an onyx cup (no cover), raised on a tapering marble plinth 48 cm high Bryan Catley, 'Art Deco and other Figures', Antique Collectors Club, Suffolk, 1978, p143 (similar figure illustrated on a different base with an openwork metal cover on the cup) Condition Report:Small split at the front of the arm (left hand side when you look at it) but not obvious from the top and another on the bottom of the back right foot that grows a little up the side. There are some losses to edges, most obviously on the front facing edges of vertical and horizontals elements, some scars and old marks and general wear in keeping with age and use. Some age separation to joins. There is a fine split across the pale wood inlay panel at the back but it isn't obvious. There is some white spotting on the underside.There is a single loss on one strand to rush on both back panels. There are some small chips to the wood of the seat on the corners. The seat rush looks to have been replaced at some point and there a few marks/stains on the rush but no splits or losses.
Claude Mirval (French), an Art Deco cold-painted bronze figural lamp with globular agate shadec.1930, signed C. MirvalModelled and cast as a seated and partially draped young woman, her scarf decorated with gilt floral motifs, she holds an agate ball, that conceals the light above her head, raised on a stepped oval marble base, with electrical fitments35 cm high, approximately 37 cm wideThe silvering to the figure is rubbed and streaked. The join for the front arm is beginning to show because of the wear to the cold painting - the join is how it is made and is not damage. Some wear and rubbing to the green on the scarf/drape. General wear in keeping with age and natural use. There is a 'hot-spot' on the agate shade. There are some small nicks and nibbles to the stepped marble base on the edges.It comes with some extra old bulbs.Electrical components have not been tested, and should be examined by a qualified electrician prior to any intended use. Re-wiring may/will be needed.
Charles Pierre Van Der Stappen (Belgian 1843-1910), a patinated bronze relief panel entitled ‘Auld Lang Syne’ Late 19th Century, signed Ch. Van Der Stappen, J. Petermann Fondeur, Bruxelles Depicting a woman in profile holding her finger to her lips, with foliage in the background, supported in a large oak frame visible panel 78 cm x 58 cm: frame 100 cm x 80.5 cm Property from a Private London Collection. There is a similar bronze 'Auld Lang Syne' panel by Van Der Stappen hanging above the fireplace in the 'Gallery East End' in the Glasgow Art Club at 185 Bath Street, Glasgow. In 1890 this arts club was extended under the aegis of John Keppie, from the architectural firm Honeyman & Keppie, the employers of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Mackintosh is thought to have been involved with some elements of the decoration in this room. Purchased: Lyon & Turnbull Decorative Arts sale, 7th November, 2001, lot 337Some dust in crevices. A few small scrapes to the patina around edges where it sits in the frame. Oak frame substantial - a few marks/wear.

Hervé Van Der Straeten (French B. 1965), a pair of bronze 'Volubile' Lampsc.2006, one with designers 'HV' monogramBrown patinated and polished bronze, with tricorn shade46.5 cm high including shade (2)One with designers monogram and one without. Some natural wear in keeping with use and some light rubbing to patina. The lamp with the HV monogram has a metal light fitment and the one without it has a brown plastic light fitment, the plastic wobbles a little and currently the shade does not sit quite straight and would some attention. The shades has some light wear to the tops, one small area fraying and some dirt collecting along the seams.Electrical components have not been tested, and should be examined by a qualified electrician prior to any intended use. An Art Nouveau bronze table lamp with Loetz glass shade c.1900 The small domed frosted glass shade with orange/pink splash decoration fixed in a bronze hoop with weighted drop, supported by a half hoop and open foliate stem and base, with light fitments 26.5 cm high The shade is fixed in to the hoop with plaster so cannot be removed and appears to be in good order. The light fitment wobbles a bit. There are some old marks and wear to bronze elements and the metal has dulled with age. The lamp has lost the securing nuts for the hooped shade and the half hoop supports. Tiffany Studios (American), a bronze and glass ‘Pine cone’ pattern box with hinged cover Early 20th Century, stamped Tiffany Studios, New York, 826The rectangular form with openwork metal pine-cone pattern top and sides and set with marbled glass panels, having a removeable wood liner, with splayed foot 8 cm high; 23.5 cm long, 16.5 cm deepThere is a star crack to the back panel which is concealed when the wood liner is in place. Glass with a few scratches. Metal surfaces rubbed in places, tarnished and dulled with age in places. Some age separation to the metal joins on the corners. Wood interior with a few marks and stains. Some polish residue.
