Good French bronze two train mantel clock, the movement striking on a gong and back plate bearing the maker's trademark logo AB either side of a star, the 3.5" silvered chapter ring enclosing a foliate engraved centre, within an ornate pillared case decorated with panels of animals and birds amidst stylised foliage and surmounted by a raised top with five ornate finials, 16" high, under a later glass dome and upon a stepped oval mahogany base, 18.5" high overall (pendulum and keys)

Hollanders, Queen St. Portsea, Maker 1886, with subsidiary seconds and hour dials, the substantial movement with bronze wheels, jewelled lantern pinions, deadbeat escapement and maintaining power, also with canted pinion slots in the tips of the escape wheel teeth to retain oil, the case with long moulded glazed arched door over a stepped panelled base, the hood surmounted by a flat moulded stepped cornice, 73.75" high (wooden rod pendulum with large brass bob, weight, pulley wheel and crank handle key) *E Hollander was recorded in the 1881 census as a German Clockmaker working in Portsea
