Reynoud, Paris, c. 1889, comprising metal drum (21 cm diam.), on turned wood stand with brass candle holder, shade holder, orig. six-section printed paper shade, four interchangeable paper scenes, mirror, internal viewing screen and ten interchangeable picture strips, in polished mahogany case Reynoud's praxinoscope gained distinction at the Universal Paris Exhibition in 1878 and a bronze medal at the International Paris Exhibition in 1879. A Sevres vase and cover modelled as a clock circa 1772-73 Vase solaire the urn-shaped vase set on a stem and a round foot applied with three roundels with medaillons and tabs at the sides joined by rings the fourth roundel replaced by a clock encased in gilt-bronze the domed cover with an oval knop decorated with an overglaze-blue ground 27.5cm. 11in. one tab and half of one ring broken cover later replacement watch hands missing (2) For similiar examples see R.
