MEDIEVAL BOOK MOUNT – GOTHIC TEXT. A very early bronze book mount or applique C12/13th in date with two letters in Gothic type design, found by a detectorist in Worcestershire. Any form of lettered mount of this age is extremely rare. 25-35

C14/15th ENGLISH BRONZE BUCKLER. One of two Bucklers found on the banks of the River Thames in London in the late 1960’s. The other is now in a museum in the USA. This is the better example, showing various sword cuts and battle damage ! The diameter is 8 inches, the domed section has a diameter of 4 ½ inches. The front face has 3 incised lines serving as decoration together with a decorative complete circle on the dome. A very rare item of medieval period armour, 100% original and only cleaned of mud encrustation so delightfully patinated. 1000-1500

EARLY VIKING SILVER CROSS PENDANT C10/11th A silver cross pendant, a very early Viking Christian pendant decorated on the front face with raised dots and line work covering the whole surface. The suspension loop has pelleted edges , 1 3/8 inches in diameter, condition is very good, no cracks or damage, the silver is stable. Early pendants tend to be bronze and simply cast, this is a jeweller made piece which is far rarer. 180-240

These children’s toys measure 3 inches long and were designed function with the addition of a tiny amount of gunpowder. 40-60

LURISTANIAN DECORATIVE ARMOUR PLATE SECTION. A piece of embossed bronze plate, probably an ear flap from a helmet; Luristanian origin with a depiction of two camels grazing. The size is @ 5 ½ x 3 inches across the widest point, there are two holes on the top edge presumably for a hinge. A rare piece, very little Luristanian armour was decorated to this standard. 180-240

A PAIR OF VIKING ARM RINGS. A pair of Viking gents arm rings in bronze with some silvering remaining. This is a matched pair, the diameter of each ring is 4 ¼ inches . The outer face of each ring is entirely covered in decorative incised line-work, alternating bands of parallel lines and blocks of four smaller lines. Both arm rings are in exceptionally good condition with no cracks or fatigue to the bronze. These date C10-11th . 180-240

RARE JACOBITE WALL CROSS WITH HIDDEN CULLODEN INSCRIPTION. A unique wall cross with Jacobite connection. The cross is in the form of a silver plated heart with a simple incised cross on the front face. To the reverse, and hidden from view when hung up, there is an inscribed dedication “ REMEMBRE YE FELL AT CULLODEN”. After the defeat of the Scots at Culloden any reference to the Jacobite cause was outlawed so supporters of the Bonnie Prince had to be cautious in continuing to show any allegiance. With this cross are a damaged bronze ring and a coin dated 1746 both found on Culloden Moor, site of the battle; from the collection of an ancient Scottish family with direct descent connection to participants in the battle, the last battle fought on British soil.

MEDIEVAL BRONZE CASTERS MOULD IN STONE. A scarce metal workers stone mould used for casting, the impression seems to be some form of heraldic crest or heraldic pendant. The mould measures 2 ¼ x ¾ inches and the crest which would be made using it measures 1 3/8 inches across the widest point. These sorts of moulds were used for many centuries in the casting process, this example was found in London and is likely to date C13-15th. 40-60
