He studied under Bosio at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, later exhibiting at the Salon. He concentrated on genre groups to begin with, turning to monumental statuary at a later date. Amongst his public works are the statue of Richard the Lionheart, outside the House of Lords and the equestrian statue of the Duke of Orleons for the Louvre courtyard.
