A FRENCH GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE MANTEL CLOCKWith eight-day bell-striking movement, the dial inscribed Lapine, Place des Victories, No. 12The case in the form of Bacchus in his chariot, on a plinth base49cm high, 55.5cm wide, 21cm deepCondition Report: Clock is fitted with a movement by Vincenti & Cie most likely dating to the last quarter of the 19th century; the movement is a little dirty/neglected but will just about run and the striking mechanism is operational hence a clean/service is probably all that is required. The dial has extensive noticeable restoration (filling and colouring) as well as chipping/losses to the enamel. The case generally is in good original condition retaining original finishes albeit with overall discolouration/tarnishing and light to moderate wear. The rear cover glass has been replaced and is now secured via tangs soldered to the bezel. There are also filed slots in the bezel and corresponding holes in the circumference of the case suggesting clips for securing the rear cover were once present, Clock has a pendulum but no winding key.Clock is 56cm wide, 22cm deep, 48cm high. Condition Report Disclaimer
