Of Olympic Games and Military History interest: A group of three First World War medals comprising a 1914 Star, a War medal and a Victory medal, awarded to Sjt. George William Hutson, Royal Sussex Regt., together with his memorial plaque, a 1912 Olympic Games competitor`s medal, a bronze Ferenc-Varosi Sports Club medal 1899 in original case and a quantity of archival material relating to George Hutson`s career as an athlete including original photographs, press cuttings and an embroidered jersey badge worn by him at the 1912 Olympic Games, as well as original photographs relating to his short period of active service. Also included in this lot is a family First World War medal awarded to Private E. G. Jones, East Surrey Regiment and an Army Temperance medal.* George William Hutson won two bronze medals in the 1912 Olympic Games held in Stockholm finishing third in the 5000 metres and the 3000 metres team races. He enlisted in the Royal Sussex Regiment on the outbreak of the First World War and was killed in action, serving as a serjeant at the Battle of Marne in 1914 CONDITION REPORT: (the medals in this lot typical condition, the scrapbook is in structurally very poor condition but the photographs and press cuttings are all reasonably good, the Union Jack badge is frayed at the edges and faded, also included is a 1914 England embroidered flannel badge which is stained, a Surrey Athletic Club embroidered blazer badge which is faded and a felt `B` which is in reasonable condition)
