Two hinged handles on the side for inserting a carrying rod. Box with slip lid, decorated on all sides with leaf tendrils and the Tokugawa coat of arms. Similar tendrils on the fittings. Height 39cm, width 62cm, depth 43cm, complete height 61cm. Condition B. Supplement: Matching but later wooden base. Boxes of this kind were part of the trousseau of a bride of high standing and were carried in the procession to the groom's residence.
