A London 1908 Olympic Games bronze third place prize medal struck for the [cancelled] golf team competition,designed by Bertram Mackennal, manufactured by Vaughton of Birmingham, bronze, two young maidens are crowning a winning athlete, the reverse with St George slaying the dragon, the rim inscribed THIRD PRIZE, GOLF (TEAMS)The golf tournament at the 1908 London Olympic Games was scheduled to have taken place on the links at Royal St. George's, Princes and Royal Cinque Ports. But when the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews became embroiled in a dispute with the Olympic Organising Committee, the golf tournament was cancelled suddenly just two days before the golf was due to begin.The medals had already been struck and the example being here was to be awarded to a team bronze medal winner. A silver medal is in the collection of the British Golf Museum.

The present medal comes from the 2nd Winter Maccabiah which was staged February 18th to 22nd, 1936, in Banska Bystrica the in Czechoslovakia. 2,000 athletes participated from 12 participating nations.This was to prove the last time a winter Maccabiah was held, with no attempts to revive it after the 2nd World War - although the Maccabi World Union still runs smaller regional winter games to date.

Grenoble 1968 World Ice Hockey Championship winner's medal,awarded to an unknown Soviet player, gold plated-bronze, by Huguenin, featuring a goal minder, the World medal 60mm. diameter, inscribed CHAMPIONNAT DU MONDE, WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPSIn 1968 the Olympic, World and European Ice Hockey Titles were all decided simultaneously during the ice hockey tournament held at the Grenoble Winter Olympic Games. The Soviet Union claimed each title. Their players would have received three medals, one from the IOC, and two from the ice hockey authorities. The European medal had the same design as the world medal but was 10mm smaller in diameter.

Willie Newton head & shoulders bronze of the steeplechaser Mandarin,used as the winner's trophy for the Brimpton Handicap Hurdle at Newbury, 24th November 1995, won by Eskimo Nel trained by John Spearing and ridden by David Bridgwater, set on a circular wooden base with race inscription presentation plaque, height 23.5cm.Mandarin's connection with Newbury is that he was the winner of the inaugural running of the Hennessy Gold Cup in 1957, and a race he would win again in 1961. A steeplechase bearing his name is run at Newbury annually.Mandarin also won famously with a broken bit the Grand Steeplechase de Paris; the 1962 Cheltenham Gold Cup, and the King George VI Chase twice.
Harriet Glen (contemporary)NORTHERN DANCERsigned, numbered 29/100, bronze, set in a wooden base, 20 by 27cm.Northern Dancer was a Canadian-bred thoroughbred who won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes in 1964. But his fame is as one of the most influential stallions of the 20th century. This was first apparent when his son Nijinsky won the 1970 Triple Crown. He got two other Derby winners The Minstrel and Secreto, as well as many other famous champions.
