Lot 600

Seltene Figur des Vaishravana. Sinotibetisch, 18. Jh. H 19,5cm. Bronze feuervergoldet. A rare gilded bronze figure of Vaishravana. The protector deity, named King of the North , depicted sitting on a snow lion (later tradition), wearing armor and a crown, holding a mongoose as a symbol of wealth and an attribute added in modern times (originally holding a banner on a long pole - confirmed by the hole in the ground in front of the figure). The bottom closed and incised with a vajra depiction. Sinotibetan, 18th century. Excellent style, fine detailled work! Gilding partially rubbed off, attribute in the right hand modern, tiny dent on the nose, otherwise very good condition. Provenienz: Ex Sammlung A.E.O., Rheinland; erworben im Rheinland 2008 oder 2009.

Lot 81

Reitender Eros. Römische Kaiserzeit, 1. - 2. Jh. n. Chr. H 13cm. Kat.-Nr.8.65; zum Typus vgl.: The Gods Delight. Ausstellung Cleveland (1989) 339 f. Kat.-Nr. 72. Bronze figure of a chubby, child-like Eros in the pose of a rider. Roman Imperial Period, 1st - 2nd century A.D. Attractive green patina, some fingers and right foot broken. Separately worked left wing missing. Right wing partially bent and with some feathers missing. Two holes in the feet probably identify the piece as part of a tintinnabulum, an ancient bell, showing Eros riding on a phallus with little bells hanging down from chains fixed at his feet. Provenienz: Erworben 1974 - 1990 von Dr. Leo Mildenberg für die Sammlung R.G., Deutschland. Ex Gorny & Mosch 222, 2014, 51. In Deutschland seit vor 1990.
