Fine condition, loop absent.Found near Kenilworth, Warwickshire, UK, in 1982.These arms are among those appearing on the armorial bearings of Queens College, Cambridge. The arms are those of the Duchy of Bar, France, which was then divided between the kingdom of France and the Holy Roman Empire. The college owed its foundation to Marie of Anjou, whose father's arms appear in those of the college within a green border.

A bronze chessman seal matrix with discoid base, hexagonal-section stem, transverse collar and pierced trefoil finial; the seal design comprising a central pellet with foliage and cross above, Lombardic script 'IhC' (the Christogram) and the perimeter inscription reads EST AMOR ME’, or possibly MEV, taken together with the expanded monogram, reads 'Christus est amor me[us]' meaning 'Christ is my love'. 9.55 grams, 24mm (1").
