Circular silvered bronze medal with integral loop for ribbon suspension. The face has a dark patina and shows a female figure with her right hand raised holding an upright sword and her left arm raised holding a slain dragon (symbolic of the German Empire) by the neck. Circumscribed upper right LIBERATUM and signed by J.P. Laurens. The reverse has standing figures of a woman and child to the right surveying a devastated landscape, marked Paris Art on the right. The medal was produced commercially in 1919 to mark the liberation of German-occupied French territory and to raise funds for restoration work.
