The Incorporated Law Society's impressive Boer War Tribute medal, the bronze medal was presented to Solicitors and Articled Clerks who served in the South African Campaign 1899-1902 and who were entertained by the Society at a banquet December 18th 1902. The obv. displays the Arms of the Society, the rev. shows the emblems of England, Ireland and Scotland with explanatory legend. These medals were given unnamed, struck in bronze, diam 56.25mm. France: a printed panel (or handkerchief) stating "Souvenir De Salonique" and showing line drawing of Zeppelin LZ85's skeletal frame, beneath appears the text "Le squelette du Zeppelin L.Z.85 de 135m de Long, Abattu par les Allies dans ta Nuit du 4 au 5 Mai 1916 et Expore pres la tour Blanche a Salonique", a border of pansy flowers surrounds, in a frame (approx 14" x 14" worn) with a French Croix de Guerre 1914-15 with bronze star emblem to ribbon affixed to the panel. The medal VF, Zeppelin L.Z 85 was brought down by HMS Agamemnon's shell fire. £50-60
