It was made in a style worthy of the sovereign. The purplewood, sycamore, and rosewood veneer was decorated with gilt bronze ornaments including four low reliefs depicting allegories (Music twice, Painting, and Sculpture) and two escutcheons representing baskets of flowers.

CHINESE COIN SWORD, 18TH or 19TH CENTURY Antique multiple Chinese bronze coins joined with cord to form a sword. Coin-swords were a form of talisman used in south China to ward off evil influences, especially those inducing fever. They were made by tying together 'cash' (the pidgin term for Chinese coins with a square hole in the middle) on to an iron rod.
