D/KX.76007) in it`s original presentation case; Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, George VI (K.X.76007 W. CADWALLADER. S.P.O. H.M.S. DELPHINIUM); 1939-45 Star; Burma Star; Africa Star; Atlantic Star with France and Germany clasp and War Medal 1939-45 with a bronze oak leaf denoting a mention in despatches together with all associated paperwork including service record papers, also included are his brother`s Police and War Medal group of five to include Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, George VI; British War Medal 1914-20 (53259 PTE. T. CADWALLADER. W.YORK.R.); Victory Medal (53259 PTE. T. CADWALLADER. W.YORK.R.); Defence Medal and Coronation Medal 1953. * Chief Stoker William Cadwallader of Dudley, Worcestershire was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal when his ship H.M.S. Saumarez was heavily engaged in the sinking of the German Battle Cruiser "The Scharnhorst" on 26 December 1943. The Mention in Despatches was awarded when his ship H.M.S. Saumarez was engaged in action and the destruction of a Japanese Heavy Cruiser of the Nachi Class (London Gazette 18/9/45). Other ships which William Cadwallader served on included Royal Sovereign; Durban; Vivid and Renown.
A late 19th Century Classical Revival anodised bronze mantel clock with eight day striking movement, the circular dial with Roman numerals, the architectural case with Britannia surmount above a classical frieze and pediment supported by four Corinthian columns framing classical figures, on a stepped base, height approx 48cm.
After Clodion - a pair of 19th Century French cast gilt bronze figural candelabra of neoclassical design, each fitted with two circular sconces on acanthus scroll branches supported by an urn beside a classical maiden, cast with signature and `F. Barbedienne`, raised on white marble canted square bases with fluted decoration and applied beaded and berried leaf bands, height approx 50cm (drilled).
Vaclaw Szczeblewski - Mousse Siffleur, a late 19th Century brown patinated cast bronze figure of a whistling boy wearing a tam o`shanter, standing with his hands in his pockets, raised on a circular base with cast signature and date `V. Szczeblewski 1889`, `F.P. Sanson... Hamburg` foundry stamp and `1573`, height approx 42cm.
GRAHAM IBBESON (1951 - ), a nude female leaning forward, resin bronze, inscribed "Richard" to the base, and signed with initials, raised on rough hewn stone plinth, 19 3/4" high (Illustrated) Provenance: Graham Ibbeson M.A. (RCA) (1951- ) Born in Barnsley, Yorkshire and educated at the Royal College of Art, Graham Ibbeson has been working as a professional sculpture since 1978 and has exhibited extensively throughout Europe and North America. Works of his can be found in the British Museum, the V & A Museum and Leeds City Art Gallery. He is best known for his public sculptures including Benny Hill at Southampton, Laurel & Hardy at Ulverston, Cary Grant at Bristol, the Leeds Millennium Sculpture, The Jarrow March, Eric Morecambe at Morecambe and recently Dicky Bird at Barnsley. The vendor was at one time a neighbour of the sculptor and this was specifically commissioned as a birthday present, only one piece was made, the moulds have been destroyed. The piece depicts the artist`s wife.
A Victorian lacquered brass demonstration gyroscope. John Davies, London, circa 1870. The phosphor-bronze flywheel pivoted within a brass ring with hook at one end and supported in a cradle, the apparatus mounted via a sleeve pivot onto a brass column upright with disc base signed John Davies, LONDON, 22cm high, in original mahogany box with brass weights, now with later dished pine cradle to facilitate pull-start. Provenance: The property of a descendant of John Davies. The original wooden starting cradle was lost during an air raid on the premises of Davies Brothers Weston-super-Mare in 1942 (see following lot for biographical footnote).
