Pair of natural patina cast bronze figures of large crouching rats, each with the right paw raised in the act of making a votive offering. This unusual representation of the mouse is linked to the bronze models visible in many Nepalese temples, such as the large one exhibited at the Ashok Binayak Ganesh temple in Kathmandu. The rat, as vehicle of Lord Ganesh, is often subject of worship itself. However, in Buddhist context, the mongoose (nakula) is also the main attribute of Jambhala, the deity of abundance, typically depicted with a rat vomiting up precious stones. In this case, it is possible that these two animals used to flank an altar devoted to Jambhala.

Polished bronze sculpture depicting the young Krishna standing on an elaborate lotus base playing the now missing flute. This subject, frequent and widespread throughout the Indian sub-continent, is related to the devotional cult inspired by the figure of Krishna, incarnation of the god Vishnu. Originally promoted by the great Indian mystic Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486-1534), this cult, which developed in the Bengal region around the 16th-17th century, established a strong emotional connection with the figure of the young shepherd Krishna playing the flute for his consort Radha. The loving couple establishes the origin of the esoteric bond which, according to the Hindu religion, is at the basis of the male-female duality inherent in the Shakti, the primordial force that moves the universe.

Figure of Avalokitesvara in its manifestation called Sahasrabhuya or "of a thousand arms". The Sanskrit term Avalokitesvara, which literally means "the one who listens to the sound", therefore prayer, already appears in some written fragments of the 5th century as one of the manifestations of the Buddha, the Buddha of mercy, better known in the Far East as Guanyin (China) or Kannon (Japan). This peculiar iconography of Avalokitesvara was popular in the region of the Himalaya and linked to the so-called "esoteric Buddhism", which prescribes the image of the standing deity with eight arms, each of them holding an attribute, and other arms that act as lateral wings. Furthermore, the head is replaced by a pyramid of eleven superimposed faces. The origin of this iconography is to be traced back to an ancient legend stating that the head of Avalokitesvara multiplied trying to bestow compassiong to the suffering mankind.
