A rare Ming dynasty gilt bronze figure of Wen Ch"ang, the god of literature, seated wearing elaborate robes with cloud scroll borders, a scholarly headdress and holding a sceptre. 16th/17th century, 23.5cm. Raised on a hardwood stand. (2) Cf. Wen Ch"ang was born during the Tang dynasty (618-906 AD) in the Kingdom of YeŸh. He was a brilliant writer and was canonised by the Tang rulers.
