Raingo Freres bronze mantle clock, the bronze case with cherub and floral swag mount with doves above the circular dial enamelled with both Roman and Subsidiary Arabic numerals and with two-train striking movement, flanked by fruiting vine decoration and raised on a velvet lined giltwood plinth with further plinth beneath. Overall height 54 cm, width 37 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in generally extremely good condition. The case is in good order with no visible damage and no repairs to the metalwork. It has much of its original finish and is simply dusty. The clock sits on a velvet topped giltwood and gesso base which does not appear to have its original paint finish. It is in good condition but in our opinion has been overpainted at some point its life. The black base beneath the clock is relatively modern but in good order. The clock dial has minor damage around the right hand winding aperture. The remainder of the dial is in good order. Both the strike and winding trains are overwound. The strike train is however striking as it should when the pointers are moved. The clock also seems to be ticking away and has been running for half an hour despite being fully wound. The maximum depth of the black base is 10 ins. The gilt wood base depth is 7.5 ins.

There are numerous old surface scuffs and scratches but no significant issues. The front and rear doors open and snap shut as they should. The clock face is a little tarnished in areas but in generally good condition. All of the ceramic numeral tablets are in good order. The four feet are original, the right hand foot has been glued in place the other three screw on. The clock movement is currently ticking away and chiming. Unfortunately we do not have a pendulum with this clock. Both trains wind although we do not have a key.
