A pair of French bronze bookends, early 20th century, each modelled as a scribing cherub, each 11.5cm longCR; Height approximately 13cmWidest point approximately 6cmOne cherub is loose upon it's base, and screw needs tightening. Both appear to have once been modelled writing upon slabs, which have since been broken off, as evident by rough patches on the arms (see pictures). Both examples show general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. No large splits, dents or signs of repair. The slightly loose example wobbles slightly on a level surface.
A pair of late 19th century bronze copies of the Townley Vases, each cast in relief with classical figures, raised upon stepped slate plinths with incised gilt foliate detail, 42cm high (one at fault)CR; One example appears to have a later replacement bolt on the base, which has become loose on the pin running through the vase - as a result, the vase is loose upon the plinth, and the body of the plinth is loose on the base. There appears to be traces of an adhesive residue around the plinth of the same example (see pictures). Both examples show several chips and nibbles to the marble plinths mostly concentrated on the corners and edges, with the at fault example having a large loss to the base (see pictures). There is some loss to the gilt highlights on both examples. The vases to both examples appear in good order, no large dents, major damage or repair. Both liners are present.
