A set of three miniature cold painted bronze dachshunds, after Franz Bergman, 20th century, one depicted lying playfully on a cushion inscribed "Only 40 Winks" and stamped to the underside "Austria", a standing male and a small pup with a spotted hankie tied around its head, indistinctly marked. Longest 5.8 cm (see illustration).
A bronze figure of a seated Roman soldier, signed to the rear "Cain". Height 34 cm, width 33 cm. CONDITION REPORT: In general the figure is in good order. The only issues are an uncast base beneath his stool, this is not instantly obvious. Having had a better look at this we consider it to be a 20th Century piece and not Victorian.
A Vienna style claret and gilt ground tea kettle and cover, late 19th/early 20th century, of globular form with gilt bronze dolphin form and porcelain bale handle, the cover with a gilt knop connected to the handle by a short beaded chain, the body painted with a continuous view of children dancing and courting, beehive mark to underside and inscribed "Werbung" and "Tanz", height 17 cm including handle, and a Vienna style cabinet plate, mid 19th/early 20th century, painted with rural view of figures before a building and mountainous landscape at a roadside junction, bordered with gilt scrolls and trelliswork against a claret ground, beehive mark to underside, diameter 21 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The teapot lid has a 2 cm long rim chip and the knop appears to have been broken and glued back on. The teapot body has a small chip to its shoulder rim. The spout has been broken in three places and glued together. There is a chip along 50% of the spout rim. There is a small chip to the handle edge. Other than those faults mentioned the main body and decoration appear to be in good order. The plate has a tiny rim chip and a small amount of gilding loss to the rim. There are three worn patches to the main decoration, the first being to the figure and cart on the left, the second and third small patches appear on the path at the foot of the decoration (almost 6 o'clock if looking on a clock face). Other than these small faults it remains an attractive and decorative plate.
A Japanese bronze Utsubata, circa 1880, the disc form well with pierced Swastika apron above the bulbous body with double wall reticulated handles, the panel with a Feng and verso a Kylin all against an archaic key ground and supported on three mythical beast mask and tongue legs, with nine character cast seal mark to underside. Width 33 cm, height 30.3 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The top removable section appears to be in good order and free from any dents and knocks. The colour appears uniform throughout. The neck is a lighter colour brown than the remainder of the body which has a uniform dark chocolate colour. There are patches of verdigris to the interior and on the underside. There are no post production flaws that are obvious to the naked eye.
