David Bowie.- an original life-cast plaster cast of Bowie's face and neck, 1983, finished in a jesmonite resin finish with an integral block stand, height 37.4 cm, width 26 cm, weight 3.3kg.Provenance. David Bowie (1947-2016) British singer, songwriter and actor, sat for this life-cast mask at the height of his 'Lets Dance' period, whilst shooting the film 'The Hunger in 1983, co-starring Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon. This original plaster mask was used by the make-up artists as a working palette and to test their make-up designs. Three years after Bowie's death, Surrey sculptor, Graeme Lougher, was commissioned to produce a limited number of this plaster cast original, finished in bronze, cast iron, aluminium and jesmonite finishes.
