AN IMPRESSIVE AND INTERESTING 18TH CENTURY BRONZE BELL, the bell cast with two bands of names: SR ROBERT DASHWOOD BARRONETT (sic) and SR ROBERT DASHWOOD ESQUIRE 1718, hung from a section of oak beams with wrought iron mounts, bell lacking clapper. Bell: 16ins high x 18ins wide. Note: Sir Robert Dashwood, 1st Baronet 1662-1734, was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Oxford and was a Member of Parliament. He married in 1683, fathering nine children, the eldest son was also called Robert.
A silver replica of the Glastonbury Bowl, maker's mark SS (unidentified), Chester 1906, retailed by Franklin & Hare, Taunton, Regd. No. 333891, 13cm (5in) diameter, 231g (7.4 oz) The original bronze bowl was found at the iron age Glastonbury lake village, about three miles from Glastonbury. The site was discovered by Arthur Bulleid in 1892 and excavated over the next fifteen years.
