South African Reserve Bank, obverse and reverse archival photograph showing a proposed design for an unknown £1, Pretoria, 1 January 1922, serial number 0000000, obverse portrait of General Lois Botha at top centre, reverse view of Cape Town, mounted on board, manuscript date 2/6/21, unique and important £400-£500 --- Lois Botha was a General in the Boer War and considered a Boer war hero, taking command of all Boer forces in 1900. He was appointed the first prime minister of the Union of South Africa in 1907, the forerunner of the modern South African state. One can assume Lois Botha’s portrait wouldn’t have been the most popular choice politically.
Central Bank of Ceylon, a initial engravers workings on transparent acetate showing the outlines of plate designs for a proposed 2 Rupees, c.1980, outline of the portrait W. R. D. Bandaranaike, design similar to the 50 and 100 Rupees of 1970, each of these is unique and they are remarkable survivors, as most were simply treated as printers waste Pick 77 for design £100-£150 --- This item is photographed on a white background to show it properly, but is an etching on transparent acetate (plastic). No returns will be accepted on grounds of failing to read or understand the description.

* Oliver Cromwell. Mazot (F. publisher), Olivarius Cromwell Exercituum Angliae Reipublicae Dux Generalis..., circa 1650, uncoloured engraving, laid on linen and mounted on a wooden stretcher, Cromwell's coat of arms below the image, very slight abrasion to the image, slight worming to the lower right corner of the title, 565 x 425 mmQTY: (1)NOTE:The British Musem holds another state of this print with an additional eight lines of verse in Latin below the title. The print is a full-length equestrian portrait of Oliver Cromwell, slightly turned to the right, one hand at his hip holding his riding crop and the other holding the reins of his black stallion, very much in the manner of a Roman emperor. He is dressed in a doublet with high boots over his breeches, a plain collar over his gorget and a chain of office about his neck, a plumed hat on his head with his pistol in a holster at his side. In the distance is a view of London from the south bank of the Thames, clearly showing St Pauls with its square spire which would be destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666.

The brooch featuring a central panel featuring a copy of a self portrait of French Artist Elisabeth-Louise Vigée LeBrun with a halo of seed pearls set to the mount and bale and detachable brooch clasp to verso.
