A rare large Spode-Copeland limited edition Royal commemorative tyg for the 1937 Coronation, printed factory marks and limited edition no. 37 to base, with three foliate capped handles and flared base, painted with Britannia, the Royal coat of arms and a portrait of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the inside rim with an English rose meander, 5¾in. (14.6cm.) high. * Good condition, with just light scratching to gilt. No other faults.
Four Bois Durci vulcanite portrait relief roundels / plaques, second half 19th century, NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR; EUGENIE IMPERATRICE; LORD DERBY; VISCOUNT PALMERSTON, each marked 'BOIS DURCI' to reverse, 4 3/8 -4 ½in diameter. (4) * Palmerston - missing hanger and having shallow nibbles to rim, mainly at base; Derby - with two tiny nibbles to rim, missing loop; Napoleon and Eugenie with flea-bite nibble to rim, overall good.

(58 x 42cm.), framed. * Provenance - Bonhams, Channel Islands Sale, Jersey, 27th October 2008, lot 360 where described as "After Sir John Poynter" ** No other examples are known of this print. *** Multiple light, mostly horizontal, creases. Acid free mount.
A fine 19th century Sheraton Revival painted satinwood sofa table, the rectangular dropflap top with rounded angles and painted floral and foliate meander border, centred by a painted oval reserve of a Bacchanale group within a foliate and husk frame suspending a pair of bead framed portrait miniatures to the dropflaps, over a pair of frieze drawers with original turned mahogany handles, raised on vase shaped end supports united by twin stretchers centred by an oval with painted musical trophy, on paired swept legs painted with shells and foliage, 37 ¾ x 24in. (96 x 61cm.), 29 ¼in. (74.25cm.) high.
A pair of French Empire style neo-classical giltwood side chairs, late 20th century, the rectangular padded backs with laurel wreath and ribbon spandrels and fluted and husk decorated stiles, below a laurel swagged top rail and wreathed portrait medallion cresting, over stuff over seats in red and silver silk stripe with key carved rails, raised on turned and tapered fluted front legs and fluted pilaster back legs, 50¼in. (127.5cm.) high, 21¼in. (54cm.) wide.
A matched pair of George III silver-gilt pierced baskets, maker's marks indistinct, London 1766 & 1771, of shaped oval form with swing handle, wire-work body, one with three portrait ovals, interspersed with flowers and ribbon swag, raised on oval foot with gadroon rim, 6 ¼in. (16cm.) long, the other similar, with tied ribbon knots and butterflies amidst floral and foliate creeping plants, weight 9.8 tr.oz. * Portrait version with splits to wire rim in two places, one oval portrait detached at upper area and with restoration to bottom, further repairs throughout (well done); Butterflies version with naive to swing-handle hinge one one side, old repairs to wirework, marks rubbed on both, very pleasing to the eye, overall good.
English School (second half 19th century), Portrait of a spaniel, Portrait of a beagle. oil on board, unsigned, in original gilt cavetto frames, with labels for 'Stewart & Brown, 55 Eagle Street, Red Lion Square, London W.C.'. 7 ½ x 7 ½in. (19 x 19cm.). (2). * Some dirt to surface and beneath glass to both. One has been removed from the frame at some time, but the other is undistrubed. No evidence of overpainting under UV - both appear in good condition overall. Gilt wear and minor losses to frames.
Follower of Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), Portrait of a gentleman, probably 18th / early 19th century oil on canvas, in an ebonised 17th century style frame with gilt slip 14¼ x 10¾in. (36.2 x 27.3cm.) * Old restoration and revarnishing evident. Some craquelure across the canvas and stretcher lines are becoming visible. Under UV, extensive scattered retouching across the surface, including to the face – the retouches here are showing against the darker paint beneath. Canvas has not been lined.
Cuzco School (Peruvian, 20th century), Portrait of a nobleman on horseback, carrying a sword oil on canvas, unframed 31 x 20½in. (78.75 x 52cm.) * No repainting visible under UV. Stretcher lines faintly visible and some craquelure lower left corner and margin – sporadic craquelure elsewhere. Minor paint loss to edges of canvas where it folds around stretcher and a few minor scuffs to surface.
Two Portraits after Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch 1606 - 1669), Both titled "Portrait of an Old Jew". oil on board, both signed indistinctly with scratched signature top right, early 20th century. 5 ¼ x 4 ¼in. (13.3 x 10.8cm.) and 8 ½ x 7 ¼in. (21.5 x 18.5cm.). (2). * Minor scratches otherwise in good condition.
English School (19th century), A portrait of a lady in a white dress, holding a pink rose, three quarter length oval pastel, original gilt frame with losses 18 x 13in. (45.75 x 33cm.) * Some mould spotting to surface. Probable old restoration around left side of face. Losses to frame and cresting damaged.

Sir William Eden (British, 1849-1915), St John's Wood, London. oil on board, inscribed in pencil on reverse by Mrs Clarissa Eden (Spencer-Churchill), the daughter in law of the artist and the wife of Sir Anthony Eden "St John's Wood W. Eden about 1895), late 19th century wooden and partially gilded frame. 9 ¼ x 14 ¼in. (23.5 x 36.25cm.). * Notes: The artist, William Eden, was the father of the British Prime Minister, Sir Anthony Eden. In 1892 he commissioned Whistler to paint a portrait of his wife, Lady Eden. Unwisely, Eden disputed the price after the portrait was completed which ended up in the press followed by court proceedings in Paris in 1895. Eden won the suit but Whistler destroyed the painting and in 1899 published Eden versus Whistler: The Baronet and the Butterfly. A Valentine with a Verdict which set out to destroy Eden's reputation. ** Paint losses in the tree left centre and general foxing.
A Bohemian gilded green glass portrait scent bottle, late 19th century, of flared, tapered form, the portrait of a young girl on a gilt foliate ground, 4 ¾in. (12cm.) high, lacks stopper; together with a matching circular box with stem vase cover, 7 ¼in. (18.5cm.) high. (2) * The scent bottle lacks the stopper. A few tiny frits to edges of box and cover. Light gilt wear to decoration.
Three Japanese woodblock prints, 19th / early 20th century, comprising 'Kumasaka (The Robber)' by Tsukioka Kogyo (1869-1927), from the series Nogakuzue, 8 x 12in. (20.25 x 30.5cm.); a portrait of a warrior by Toshusai Sharaku, 15 ¼ x 10 ¼in. (38.75 x 26cm.); another smaller; and a print of a kingfisher by Kono Bairei, three framed. (4) * - Kogyo: Foxing to lower right corner and two large fox marks to lower right of figure. Some other surface dirt and light fox marks. Some iron red staining to the white rings on the lower edge of the warrior's robe, presumably caused by reaction with the gilt & silver paint used in printing. Not examined out of frame. - Sharaku: Print is mounted but unframed. Colours faded. Tear to top centre. Losses from margins at top and lower right of sheet. Some light foxing and rubbing to surface of silver background. - Small print of warriors seated inside a tent: Colours a little mouted. Several pin holes to margins and old tape adhesive marks to back of sheet to margins. - Bairei: Sheet toned and some mount burn. Not examined out of frame.
John Helier Lander (Jersey, 1868-1944), Portrait of a Sandwich Board Man advertising a service being held on Friday 29th September 1893 at St Paul's Church, St Helier, Jersey to commemorate the second anniversary of the opening of the new church oil on board, signed and dated 1893 lower left, modern frame 9 ½ x 5 ¾in. (24.2 x 14.5cm.) * Provenance: Langlois Auctioneers, St Helier, Jersey, 1992 ** Notes: St Paul's Church in New Street, St Helier, Jersey was built in 1891 on the site of another church of the same name. On Tuesday 29th September 1891 the Dean of Jersey, the Rev. George Orange Balleine (1842-1906) preached the sermon at the opening service. The advertising board shown in the painting announces that the Dean will be returning to preach at the anniversary service. The architect of the new church was Adolphus Cookson Curry (1848-1910). The Sandwich Board man depicted by Lander was reputed to be a local character who was paid a modest sum by the church to advertise its services.
19th century English School, Portrait of a prize Guernsey cow coloured conte crayon, inscribed to pastedown ‘This cow bred by Mrs. Hubert of the Vale and the property of Mr. George Torode of the Forest, obtained the First Prize at the Royal Guernsey Agricultural ………. 1859….. afterwards sold for £30’, original stained pine frame, rebacked 9½ x 11½in. (24.2 x 29.25cm.)

A Derby porcelain figure with a nodding head,c.1840, incised No. 22,17.5cm highLiterature: John Twitchett, 'Derby Porcelain 1748-1848', where this figure is illustrated on p.155Peter Bradshaw, 'Derby Porcelain Figures 1750-1848', p. 189 'it is likely that nos. 22, 23 and 24 are three groups representing the 'Royal Family', adapted from Richard Earlom's engraving of Johann Zoffany's portrait. These are described in the 'Derby Sale Catalogue' of June 1773. Their present majoesties the king and queen, and royal family, in three grouped pieces in biscuit.
