A Victorian silver shaped oval twin handled tray by Garrard & Co., London 1846, stamped for Garrard & Co. as retailers, with moulded cartouche shaped handles, a moulded rim, engraved with a shaped band with four portrait medallions, two vacant reserves, scale work, foliage and scrolls, engraved with an armorial on mantling and a crest, 70.5cm (27 3/4in) long, 4165g (133.9 oz) The arms are for Clinton George Augustus DAWKINS (1808-71) born at Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire, the son of Henry Dawkins (1765-1852) by Augusta Clinton (1768-1849), the daughter of General Sir Henry Clinton (1730-95), the commander of British forces in North America during the war of independence, and Harriet Carter (1747-72). Henry Dawkins was the third son of Henry Dawkins (1728-1814) a Jamaican plantation owner from which was derived much of the family’s former wealth, and Juliana Colyear (1735-1821) the daughter of Charles Colyear (1700-85) 2nd Earl of Portmore. The Dawkins family held estates at Standlynch Park, Wiltshire, and Over Norton, Oxfordshire. Clinton George Augustus DAWKINS served as British Consul General in Venice and in 1850 married Marianne Jane ROBARTS (1823-1907) born in China the daughter of James Thomas Robarts (1784-1825) and Charlotte Lloyd (1794-1861).

In 1961, he was appointed American Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Iceland; thence by direct family descent.
Aydemir Saidov (Russian, b.1979)MYSTERY DREAMSigned l.r., oil on canvas, 51 x 76cmSon of the artist Seyfulla Siadov, Aydemir graduated with honours from the Academy of Fine Art in St Petersburg in 2006. In order to pay for his studies at the academy, Aydemir sold his still lives and landscapes in the galleries of St Petersburg and undertook portrait commissions. In 2003, he met his future wife, the artist Marina Marina. He was chosen for the 2011 exhibition 'Artists of Russia to Watch', and his work can now be seen in museums in Russia and private collections worldwide.
