Nicht bei Presler.–[3681]Wir danken Herrn Prof. Dr. Dr. Gerd Presler, Weingarten, für Hinweise.Zustandsbericht: Harmonischer Gesamteindruck. Die Blattkanten ohne Einrisse oder Fehlstellen. Das Blatt unregelmäßig leicht gebräunt und leicht angestaubt. Das Papier mit vereinzelten kleinen braunen Fleckchen. Die Blattecken leicht gestaucht (bis zu 0,2 x 0,1 cm). In der oberen rechten Blattecke eine schwache Knickspur (2,4 cm). In der linken Wangenpartie ein leichter Oberflächen- und Farbverlust sowie glänzende Kleberrückstände (nur im Streiflicht sichtbar). Unter UV-Licht sind keine Retuschen oder Restaurierungen erkennbar. Rückseitig in den oberen Ecken schwacher Oberflächenverlust.Wir berechnen auf den Hammerpreis 32% Aufgeld.

Graham Arnold (British, 1932-2019): 'The Quiet Gathering', a trompe l'oeil, depicting a landscape viewed through a window, with chess board below, vases of berries and oak apples to one side, the other with two books, one by Ruskin, a Christingle orange resting on them, an Edwardian black and white photographic portrait in front, and with ribbons in a vase above, inscribed to the back in pencil 'The Quiet Gathering, Oil on Board, 1984', with gallery label for The Piccadilly Gallery, with purchase date of May 1986, 45 by 45cm framed and glazed 70.5 by 70.5cm.Notes: Arnold was a member of "The Ruralists", a movement of British artists including Peter Blake and Graham Ovenden which gained prominence in the 1970s.

A fine quality portrait of Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun (1755-1842) from 1788 to 1818 Le Brun painted 37 self portraits, 17 were originals and 20 were copies. 80 x 44cms. This pose was used on numerous occasions. First done for the Accademia St. Luca in Rome, it has been with the same East Yorkshire family for many decades.Condition ReportVery old repair, good condition in original frame.
