Items Relating to Archibald William Cockburn, KC 1887 - 1969. A W Cockburn was a Master of the Bench and past Treasurer of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, he was elected President of the Oxford Union in 1910. Items include several school report sheets (he won a prize for Latin verse at Eton); a copy of The Isis No 441 22/10/1910 with a biographical sketch as the current Isis Idol, he left for the Inner Temple in 1911; a fine 5 ½” x 7 ½” portrait photograph of AWC in uniform with General List badges; an Election of Officers’ card for the year he became President; several letters from the 1930s - his appointment as a member of the Supreme County Rule Committee in 1930, letter from the Home Office informing him of his appointment by the King as Recorder of Oxford in 1936, another informing him of his appointment as Deputy Chairman of the County of London Sessions; marriage service leaflet for 02/07/1953, two copies of his funeral’s order of service 03/11/1969.

Alex Statters - Aviation Interest Jean Batten CBE OSC (1909-1982), fine portrait showing her smiling looking to her front signed below the image and dated 2.10.38. Mounted into card mount measuring 30 ½ x 41cms. Jean Batten was an aviator of the 1930’s and became the best-known New Zealander of the 1930s, internationally, by making a number of record-breaking solo flights across the world. She made the first-ever solo flight from England to New Zealand in 1936. Provenance sold by his family at Mullocks Specialist Auctioneers in 2013
Alex Statters - Religious Interest Archbishop Damoskinos Papandreou of Greece (1891-1949), fine portrait showing him in full regalia looking quite serious, signed below the image. Mounted into card mount measuring 30 ½ x 41cms. Archbishop Damoskinos Papandreou was the archbishop of Athens and All Greece from 1941 until his death. He was also the regent of Greece between the pull-out of the German occupation force in 1944 and the return of King George II to Greece in 1946. His rule was between the liberation of Greece from the German occupation during World War II and the Greek Civil War . Provenance sold by his family at Mullocks Specialist Auctioneers in 2013

The Jacobean portrait of a gentleman believed to depict Charles Lord Effingham Lord Admiral and Lord Chamberlain of Queen Elizabeth I Royal Household. The portrait was originally purchased from the Royal United Service Institute Sale of Military and Naval Paintings,where it had been on display in the boardroom.The portrait was subject to restoration by Arthur Lucas Restorer and Keeper of Conservation at the National Gallery circa 1974.
