A Cased Set of Six Edward VII Silver and 'Gem'-Set Place-Card Holders, by Richard Martin and Ebenezer Hall, Birmingham, 1904, Retailed by Leighton, 7-11 Burlington Arcade, With Design Registration Number Rd 432750, each formed as an artist's palette and on circular base, the palette set with three cabochon stones and a differing reproduction portrait, the case 17cm wide, gross weight 4oz 10dwt, 140gr (6) Provenance: Bonhams, 28 June 2006, lot 325. Harrogate Antiques Fair, October 2006. Each is marked on front edge and with design registration number. There is some minor wear to the marks. Some of the backs have possibly been reattached to the base. There are some scuffs and scratches to the case.
A large framed Oil on canvas Portrait of a rosy-complectioned white haired lady in dark clothing with a white collar and ruched white sleeves and wearing an elaborate brooch set with pearls. Labels verso state: ''A Lady of Dordrecht'', attributed to J.F. Van der Merck, On Canvas, 24'' x 31'' "., & restorers' label: "HERM. RITSCHL Maler - k.u.k. Restaurator, Heugasse 54, Wien, 4/2", "Restaurier Buch Nr. 4491".
Follower of Allan Ramsay, a large ornately framed Oil on canvas a half-length Portrait with script to the lower left: "Mrs. Robert Milnes, Obt. 1799", canvas size 24 3/4'' x 30'' approx. (slight loss of paint in a couple of places). Research reveals that this may well be Mrs. Esther Milnes, (nee Shore) the wife of Robert Nicholas Milnes, Esq., she was apparently born in Sheffield in 1723 and married in 1766. A captivating picture and a skilful portrayal of this lady in elegant attire.

Joyce Butler Nee Platt (mid 20th century) Portrait of Miss Florence Rawson, ***, daughter of J Rawson FRCS, Surgeon in Bradford, half length seated wearing an emerald green velvet dress with a red flower pinned in her hair Signed and dated 1940, extensively inscribed verso, oil on canvas, 66.5cm by 53cm CONDITION REPORT: in obstensively good and origiinal condirtion. slight buckle to left hand corner, covered in a layer of dirt and diwscoloured varnsh. there are a small amount of minor scuffs scratches and abrasions withing the background above the ladies left hand shoulder. there is further small losses /rubbing following the texture of the canvas within the lower parts of her shawl on right hand side. two patches of paint slightly abover her waist and within her chest area slightly incongrious but seem to be entiirely original. other minor and isolated areas of craqueleur and superficial losses in line with the texture of the paiint to lower left hand corner. subtle diagonal line to canvas in upper left hand area. not examined under UV

A Staffordshire Bone China "Irish Home Rule" Tea Plate and Saucer, circa 1891, transfer printed in brown and overpainted in green with a bust portrait of DR CROKE and with Irish motifs, the plate inscribed ERIN GO BRAGH, printed marks, tea plate 18cm diameterThese two pieces are taken from a tea service, the remaining pieces including portraits of W E Gladstone, William O'Brien and Charles Parnell. It is thought that the services were made to commemorate Gladstone's failed 1891 Irish Home Rule Bill.
