German School (mid 18th century), 'Portrait of Elisabeth Friederike Sophie Von Brandenburg-Bayreuth (1732- 1780)', long bust length, watercolour on ivory, oval, in filigree frame, 4cm x 4cm Elisabeth was the only child of Frederick, Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and his first wife Princess Fredericka Sophie Wilhelmine of Prussia. Casanova described her as 'the most beautiful princess of Germany'. She married the Duke Karl Eugen of Wurttenberg in Bayreuth in September 1748.
After C.Rackham (20th century) 'A full length portrait of Cissi Rackham', signed, inscribed and dated 1921, in red chalk, together with a portfolio of approximately 25 life studies by the same hand, coloured chalks and pencil, several related drawings and watercolours by other hands and a quantity of prints and ephemera
TWO STAFFORDSHIRE GROUPS OF DANCERS AND A SIMILAR GROUP, painted in cobalt, richly enamelled in other colours and gilt, 18-20cm h, c1840 Other examples of the unidentified dancers are illustrated Pugh (P D Gordon), Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Era, revised edition Woodbridge 1987, Section E, plts 60, fig 111 and 126, fig 251. In the case of the latter group, the author observes that "Nothing is known of the identity of this curious pair." ++In really very good condition. One with the odd minor pinhead sized graze and a hairline crack, the third, similar group with restoration to the stump at the back
