Ophelia, William Henry Goss Ltd, circa 1885, the young girl seated on a tree stump encrusted with leaves flanked by bulrushes, on a circular base, titled to the front, impressed "W H Goss", 51cm high In The Parian Phenomenon, A Survey of Victorian Parian Porcelain Statuary & Busts, edited by Paul Atterbury, published by Richard Dennis, pg.244 it is noted that Jewitt, a friend of W H Goss, noted in 1883; "In Parian, for which Mr Goss ranks deservedly high, busts, statuary, vases, tazzas, scent-jars, bread platters and many other ornamental goods are made ... portrait busts ... rank far above the average, and are, indeed, perfect reproductions of the living originals".
