A 19th century miniature portrait on ivory, possibly depicting Marie Antoinette, in half length seated pose wearing rich court dress with lace and gold braids, and a gold coronet with pearl adornments, bears signature lower right, in a gilt brass and ivory inset frame with pierced filigree border set with simulated pearls, the back of the frame with glazed panel revealing an inset brass monogram 'H O' or 'O H' to the brown velvet back, and an easel stand, 13.5 by 9.5cm, frame overall 19 by 15cm.
An early to mid 19th century Swiss gold bracelet, the articulated panels each set with two or three oval enamel portraits, each depicting a girl in traditional costume representing one of the cantons of Switzerland, the bottom and reverse of each portrait inscribed with the names of the canton, two of the portraits replaced with mother of pearl, the panels with applied decoration in the form of leaves, lyres, daisies and scrollwork, circa 1830, 30g.
An Art Deco Style Coral and Diamond Pendant, on Chain, a carved coral plaque depicting a bust portrait surmounted by a a diamond set laurel wreath frame, with a central pearl and suspending three diamond set drops, on a trace chain, stated diamond weight 0.45 carat, pendant measures 7.5cm by 3cm, chain length 43.5cm see illustration . The pendant is in good condition. The pendant is not hallmarked or stamped, valued as gold, the chain is stamped '750', valued as gold and is stamped 'D045' indicating total diamond weight. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I, clarity SI1/SI2. Gross weight 10.8 grams. Condition Report made 23rd October 2018.
A Victorian oval Mourning Brooch, the front set hair arrangement mounted with seed pearls, the reverse with portrait miniature of a gentleman, unmarked gilt metal mount, 2½inx2in (6cmx5cm), together with a yellow metal pendant, the front and reverse with box and glass, marked on the suspension loop 15, and a vintage leather jewellery box (3)
Marshall Claxton (British, 1812-1881), 'A Canny Scotchman', signed lower left on the window frame, oil on canvas, 14in x 10in (36cm x 26cm), together with a letter from the artist dated September 10th 1875 (2) The letter refers to the picture, explaining that it was not a portrait of anyone, but done from a sketch taken in the bus, and he thought the man looked like a Canny Scotchman. Marshall Claxton was born in Bolton, Lancashire in 1812, and his work consisted predominantly of narrative scenes and portraits. When he was 17 he studied under John Jackson, RA, and in 1831 he enrolled as a student at the Royal Academy, where his first exhibited portrait was of his father. In 1834 he was awarded the first medal in the Academy`s school of painting, and in 1835 his portrait of Sir Astley Cooper won him the Gold Medal of the Society of British Artists. He painted in Italy between 1837 and 1842 and then travelled to Australia in 1850 where he worked and exhibited, and visited India and Egypt before returning to England in 1858.
A gold mounted oval shell cameo brooch, carved as the portrait of a lady, a pair of turquoise set earrings, each designed as a forget-me-knot spray, with later base metal clip fittings to the backs, a gold back and front circular pendant locket, with engraved decoration, a nephrite pendant with a gold neckchain and ten further items of jewellery, (14).
