Die Pinselstriche sind grob, der Hintergrund scheint nur angedeutet und vielmehr zu verschwimmen. Im Kontrast dazu befindet sich im Vordergrund ab Brusthöhe das Portrait einer Dame. Sie trägt ein intensiv-leuchtenden roten Überwurf, der ihre Schultern entblößt. Ihre helle und zarte Haut steht im Kontrast zu dem dunklen, erdfarbenem Hintergrund.
