An ebonised framed oval Portrait Miniature of Mr. Beris Harcourt Wood, (1902-1968) 1 3/4`` x 1 3/8`` approx. He was named after ``Caer Beris``, the family estate at Builth Wells. Beris Harcourt Wood became a well-known racing driving competing in a number of races notably the Le Mans 24 hour race in 1930 as one of the ``Bentley Boys`` in a Blower Bentley (supercharged).
An Ormolu finished framed appealing oval Portrait Miniature, 2 7/8`` x 2 3/8`` approx. of a young girl holding a kitten in her arms and understood to be Fanny (Frances) daughter of Thomas Wood (21 April, 1777 -26 January, 1860) who was an English Tory politician for Breconshire who sat in the House of Commons from 1806 -1847. He was the son of Thomas Wood and his wife, Mary Williams, daughter and heiress of Sir. Edward Williams of Llangoed Castle and the grandson of Thomas Wood (1708 -1799). The family had considerable Estates in Middleham, Yorkshire, Gwerryfed (Talgarth) and Littleton and Astlam in Middlesex. He married Lady Caroline Stewart, daughter of Robert Stewart, first Marquess of Londonderry. Wood and his wife enjoyed the friendship of members of the Royal Family. George IV had apparently visited the Woods at Gweryfed and other Royals visited them at Littleton. William IV nominated Wood to be one of his executors.
