The following twenty-five lots are from the studio of Francis Rudolph 1921-2005- The contents of the Latvian born artists studio, the collection amounts to over 200 canvases with examples spanning eight decades of Rudolphs career, from Portraiture to Landscapes, a selection of which has been acquired for institutions such as the University of Wales, the Aberystwyth School of Art, along with various museums and galleries, his work being exhibited alongside artists such as Handell Evans, Ivor Williams and Keith Vaughn....... By nature an intensely private man, the artist painted from his home Studio "Villa Riga" in London. Amongst the collection of portraits are several of the American actress Joyce Springer, as well as many landscapes of London. Little is known about Rudolphs life, the only legacy being his personal diaries which have yet to be translated by the University Francis Rudolph 1921-2005- 'Woman in a dressing room'; oil on canvas, signed and dated 1978, 102x117cm: together with eleven other portrait studies in oils by the same hand, (12)
