A First World War Gallantry Group of Five Medals, awarded to 4796 B.S.MJR A.J.COWLEY, R.F.A., comprising Distinguished Conduct Medal, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal (MID) and Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, together with related ephemera including MID citation, commission appointing him Warrant Officer Class II, ``The Small Book``, Discharge Certificates, Character Certificate, single and group portrait photographs, including RFA Hockey Team **Albert J Cowley joined the British Army in 1900 at the age of 21. He met his future wife when serving in Ireland in 1903, and kept in touch with her after he was posted to India in 1905. In 1912 he returned to Ireland to marry and was subsequently posted back to India. At the outbreak of the Great War he returned to serve in Europe

Antonio Gisbert Pérez, Spanish 1835-1901- Portrait of a lady seated full-length in an interior; oil on canvas, signed, 100x74cm., (unframed) CONDITION REPORT: canvas has been re-lined in recent years may be the original wooden stretcher the paint surface has been subject to widespread flaking this flaking appears now to be stable this flaking and associated losses are across all parts of the paint surface including the sitter general flaking all along edges and perimeters of the canvas some of the areas of flaking look to be the result of old creasing or folding of the canvas overall fair condition will require substantial restoration
After Josef Karl Steiler, German 1781-1858, a portrait miniature of Lola Montez, tondo, glazed and ivory veneered frame, bears signature, 7.5cm., dia: together with two other portrait miniatures, one of a lady quarter-length turned to the right, oval, within an oval ebonised frame and the other of a lady, quarter-length turned to the elft in a bone mounted frame, 8x6cm and 6x4.5cm., (3)
Julie Mellaerts, Belgian, mid-late 19th century- Portrait of a lady, standing half-length in a lace bodice, black coat and hat; oil on canvas, signed and dated 1884, 70x52cm CONDITION REPORT: in a gilt moulding frame, mid-20th century, not the original frame canvas has not been relined retains the original wooden stretcher with single horizontal cross brace the paint surface has been re-varnished at some point in time varnish has bled through the craquelure with widespread staining on the reverse of the canvas patch top right corner on the reverse tear lower left to the left of the sitter's shoulder under inspection with UV lamp there are numerous areas of re-touching and over-painting throughout the paint surface, in particular the face of the sitter and the hat is subject to pronounced raised craquelure and pigment separation/reticulation there is further craquelure and some reticulation of the paint surface elsewhere the canvas is somewhat ruckled the canvas is subject to bar marks, particularly horizontally in the centre overall in fair condition but will require much further restoration

Central European School, late 19th/early 20th century- Portrait of an old man smoking a pipe; oil on canvas, signed, 62.5x49.5cm CONDITION REPORT: in a composition and oak frame , circa early 20th century frame now overpainted with gold coloured paint has not been re-lined on the original wooden stretcher canvas is ruckled, loose on the stretcher and suffers from bar marks under inspection with uv lamp there is no evidence of restoration or retouching there is a 8cm wide tear upper right, a smaller tear above, a scratch top left and two or three small pin holes here and there otherwise good condition
