A rare World War II Prisoner of War photograph album Stalag XXA Thorn Poland 1940-1944Complied by Company Sergeant Major J S W Newton Royal Engineers POW 5607 Comprising: two-hundred and ninety-four black and white photographs of everyday life in Stalag XXA Thorn in Poland from 1940 to 1944 including images of roll call, group photographs, boxing matches, cobbler's shop, library, “delouser”, cookhouse, football, German Secret Police making merry, various concert parties, orchestras and military bands, cricket, highland dancing, funerals (including a tribute from the German High Command), the “Empire Games” Australia v England 1943, plays and pantomimes together with two original pencil portrait sketches and a watercolour of Company Sergeant Major Newton, a typed cast list for “Turkey Time” and a printed and signed copy of the programme for “The Scarlet Pimpernel”.
