Toms R.C.A.S.C.); 1939/45 war medal; Canadian Efficiency medal GVI (6) to/w a rare framed photograph titled 'Regimental Depot. Lord Strathcona's Horse (RC's) Winnipeg. January 19th 1916', the Regiment in winter dress, numerous portrait cards of the recipient (Strathcona's Horse and Machine Gun Brigade), machine gun group photographs (L.S.H. and C.M.G. Bde), uniform insignia including MG patches, cap/collar/ badges, 'Canada' titles, L.S.H. titles, 184th Overseas Btn. (Lisgar Manitoux) cap badge, 8th Btn. (Winnepeg Little Black Devils) collar badge, Manitoba Mounted Rifles collar badge; Black Watch (Canada) cap badge etc., original pair of stirrups, a Great War silver topped ebony cane, two framed enlistment portrait posters etc. Notes: Trooper John F Toms enlisted Winnipeg Oct. 27 1916 Lord Strathcona's Horse, later attached to the Canadian Machine Gun Battalion, served France 1917 - 18, re-enlisted Winnipeg for WWII service July 1940 with 'C' Section 1st Canadian Motor Ambulance Convoy C.A.S.C. as H.2268.

After moving to London, he joined the Royal Photographic Society in 1893. In the early 1900s, the house he shared with his wife, at 1 Cadogan Gardens, was a centre for artistic and bohemian guests, and Cecil Beaton dubbed him 'the Debussy of photography'. He moved to the United States in 1913, where his work was published in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair.
