Sir Robert Peel.- Metamorphic novelty card.- Anonymous (circa 1840s) The Cabinet, lithographed sheet with hand-colouring, with two added hinged flaps, as issued, 285 x 235 mm. (11 1/4 x 9 1/4 in), the flaps each approx. 130 x 80 mm. (5 1/8 x 3 1/4 in), minor nicks and tears to extremities, surface dirt, unframed, [circa 1845].⁂ The image with the flaps closed shows a cabinet - a piece of furniture. When the doors are opened they reveal the standing portrait figures of seven members of Peel's c. 1845 cabinet. From left to right, Lord Lindhurst, Sir J. Graham, the Duke of Wellington, Lord Wharncliffe, Sir R. Peel, the Earl of Aberdeen, and Lord Stanley.

Burton, second edition, Woodburytype photographic frontispiece (creased), endpapers foxed and browned, original cloth-backed gilt-lettered black glazed limp boards, worn and creased, [Penzer pp.305-306], 8vo, Waterlow & Sons, 1886.⁂ Scarce reprint of a work first published under a different title in 1880 and without the portrait frontispiece. The work includes a "scrap of autobiography" (pp.84-96) and a list of his works (pp.79-82).
