A rare King George IV whisky water jug by Royal Doulton, of Victorian shape with scroll handle, decorated all over in under glazed black with floral sprigs and a portrait of the King. Inscribed in red "With the compliments of the Proprietors of King George IV" Old Scotch Whisky, further inscribed in black "To the memory of His Late Majesty, Born Aug.t 12, 1762 and details of his reign, 14.5 cm high (See lot 100 for illustration).

Attractive vellum manuscript Recovery document, dated 28th November 1747, fine large portrait of the King in initial letter, with a highly decorative top border in attractive calligraphy, the document relates to Witham Montgomery's claim against John Staples for the recovery of the Manors of Codrington and Wapley, claiming them as his right and inheritance with fragments of the Great seal of George II (1)
*Pembrokeshire - Charles I. Letters Patent of Charles I, dated 18th December 1634, granting to William Lucye, DD, and Ralph Hughes of London, extensive property in Pembrokeshire, including: the Manor of Walwinscastle [Walwyns Castle] and Sick, with Sick Mill, property in Harroldston [Haroldston], Perston, and Winterton, part of the lands of Sir John Perrott; also the Manor of Eastington[?], a tenement called Chenton, property in Horston, West Popton, East Popton, Pennar alias West Pennar, Venny Lake, Glinbigh Mill, Welleston alias Wolvaston, Morston, Studdock in the parish of Nangle and Ewingston in the parish of Monoton, much of it formerly the property of Jasper, Duke of Bedford, a large, informative and impressive deed on two membranes of parchment, written in Latin with initial portrait of Charles I and intricate border, a little soiled, with fragment of the Great Seal remaining on silk laces. Jasper (c.1430-95) was made Duke of Bedford in 1485 when his nephew Henry VII acceded to the throne. (1)

A most attractive vellum Recovery document, dated Trinity Term 1800, in ornate calligraphy, being a petition from William Dyke against William Nettleship for one messuage, one cowhouse, one carthouse, two gardens, forty acres of land, thirty-five acres of meadow, five acres of pasture and common pasture for all manner of cattle, with appurtenances in Dadbury in the Parish of Chiseldon, with large portrait of the King contained in initial letter, as well as highly decorative top and side borders, with attached Royal Wax seal contained in metal skippet (broken) (1)

*Johnson (Jack, 1878-1946). Signed postcard black and white photograph, c. 1914, showing Johnson full length in boxing pose in the ring, with inset portrait of him in hat and bow tie, signed across the image 'yours truly Champion Jack Johnson', printed caption to lower foot, written message to verso [not by Johnson], franked and dated 'Paddington, 21 Oct ?14', trivial marks, overall VG. A very scarce signature. Johnson defeated Tommy Burns in 1908 to become the world's first African-American heavyweight champion. After an interracial marriage and his defeat of several white hopefuls, Johnson was convicted in 1913 under contrived circumstances for violation of a federal law. He fled to Europe and remained a champion in exile until he lost in 1915 to Jess Willard in Cuba. (1)

A Staffordshire portrait figure titled 'Washington', mid 19th century, modelled standing wearing a blue frock coat, green, puce and red decorated waistcoat and gilt-lined breeches, holding a document in his right hand with a gilt enriched black tricorn hat under his left arm, raised on an angular base titled in raised gilt capitals 'WASHINGTON'. 37cm., 14.5in. restoration to right arm and hat, haircrack to reverse.
