He is certainly very favourably acknowledged several times in the work.

19TH CENTURY SCOTTISH MAHOGANY TWO TRAIN LONGCASE CLOCK, the face marked Thomas Picken of Edinburgh, the case with broken swan neck pediment above arched aperture flanked by reeded pilasters, arched strung inlaid door to the waist with quarter pilasters on a panelled base with bracket feet. The painted face with Roman numerals, seconds and date dials, portrait of a young woman with sheep to the arch. Face is 44 x 32cm approx. Eight day two train movement striking on one bell. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: One finger missing from small dial on face. Case is grubby and worn, lower panel split. Legs have suffered some damage. General restoration required. No weights apparent.
