ANTIQUE BRASS LENS: A 19th century A. Ross of London brass portrait lens, serial no. 3083, no Waterhouse stops slot so fixed aperture, 4¾" (12 cm) L The inside of the brass cap marked Dr Larmuth in pencil. Larmuth was a Manchester trained Physician, Botanist and Horticulturalist, also a great friend of the then director of Zeiss.
Group of portrait miniature and small portraits, c. early part of 19th century, to include a watercolour and pastel of Lady Caroline Howard, Lady Charlotte with sister, watercolour of a gentleman, Henry Hall in military uniform etc., largest 10.5cm x 8.5cm, framed, with one example in a daguerreotype case. (9)CONDITION REPORT: Including its frame, the largest is 20cm x 17.6cm. They are all beneath glass. There is a clear tear to one example. Large crease/mark from top to bottom to Henry Hall. There is age-related fading, staining and historical surface marks to all.

John Alves Arbuthnot (1802–1875) was Sir William's son and owned Coworth House, near Ascot in Berkshire. Arbuthnot was a director of the London Assurance Company and of the London and Colonial Bank. London' at sea and flying the British Red Ensign, 20cm x 29cm, framed and glazed.The steam ship Albatross of the General Steam Navigational Company was built in 1884 and served until 1923 when it was sold to Italy and renamed 'Rachel'.

He was captured in 1941 during the Western Desert Campaign in North Africa, thereafter held as a prisoner of in Italy and Germany. Haig painted the above portrait during his time at the German camp Oflag IV-C P.O.W., which was specifically set up to hold prisoners with powerful family connections within the Allied nations, as per Heinrich Himmler's instructions.

Percy. G. H. Fender cricket archive: Beken & Son, Cowes a portrait photograph of 'Pamir' at anchor, 28 x 23cm, signed and titled, number 38111 in white. Pamir was a four-masted barque built for the German shipping company F. Laeisz. One of their famous Flying P-Liners, she was the last commercial sailing ship to round Cape Horn in 1949. By 1957, she had been outmoded by modern bulk carriers and could not operate at a profit
