A 19th century scrimshaw decorated powder horn commemorating the Battle of the Lakes:, having two circular portraits entitled 'Cmdr Perry' and 'Cmdr Norris' within a floral cartouche dated 1812, the reverse with a circular portrait of a man-o-war in a militia decorated frame surmounted by a crown, inscribed 'We shall conquer' beneath, the shaped end with wooden plug and steel suspension loop, 24cm long. *Notes- The Battle of Lake Erie is also known as The Battle of Put-In-Bay and was a conflict between The Unites States, Great Britain and British allies in North America during the period of the Napoleonic Wars. It began in June 1812 and lasted until February 1815, Commander Oliver Perry gained the reputation of 'Hero of the Lake after supervising the building of a fleet at Erie at the age of 27 to defeat the British.

A 19th century woolwork portrait of the Agamemnon-class 91 gun ship HMS Victor Emmanuel:, standing and running rigged with flags and pennants, amongst other shipping off a fortified point, paper label inscribed 'H M Ship Victor Emmanuel 91 guns 1862, 40 x 51cm. * Notes- HMS Victor Emmanuel was an Agamemnon-class ship originally designed as an 80 gun two decker sailing ship, but was re-ordered as a screw ship, she was reclassified a 91 gun ship in 1852. She served in the Anglo -Ashanti Wars and was then sent to serve as a hospital and receiving ship in Hong Kong, finally being sold in 1899.

3 fine prints (2 signed) by German expressionist Aberhart Vigner (further info on the-saleroom.com) - Est £350 to £400 German expressionist art by Aberhart Vigner (sp?), later 19 century. His expressionist work was seized so he changed his work to landscape art. There are 3 fine prints, one of a little boy (woodcut engraving and believed to be his son), a self-portrait and a picture of a lady. The self-portrait was from 1955 and hand finished and not all fine print, compared with the other fine prints. This was back to expressionist art, abstract. There must have been some air born acid that has slightly touched the self-portrait, but has not touched the other two pictures. 2 of the 3 prints were signed. They are on non-reflective glass.
