Note: The above lot was, by repute, purchased from the sale of contents of Temple Newsam House, West Yorkshire in 1922, and formed part of lot 822, the description of which reads ‘Two pairs of Italian coloured majolica spherical jars with medallion portraits.’ The other two jars still form part of the collection at Temple Newsam
