John Kingerlee (b.1936) Irish Portrait study, head and shoulders Monogrammed, oil on card, 17cm by 12cm See Illustration John Kingerlee was born in Birmingham 1936. In 1982 he moved to an isolated farmhouse on the Beara Peninsula, Southern Ireland, to live and paint. His works often display his distinctive technique using a thick build-up of paint using pigments he had often mixed himself, his finished works often took months to dry out. Kingerlee was a nonconformist at heart, who was a talented draughtsman with a versatility and ability to denote texture and surface in an experimental way.

English School, early 19th century, bust length portrait of Andrew Farmer, wearing a white cravat, oil on canvas, 75 x 62cm. Condition Report: Appears unrestored, however possible old relining indicated by thickness of canvas.. Denting from the rear in several places (mainly around left shoulder). Area of loss of varnish on right side. Damage to bottom left corner of frame, picture very loose in outer frame.Provenance: consigned by a local private vendor who is a descendant of the sitter.

A pair of jet earrings, each set with an oval portrait of a man to oval jet frames with carved decoration and suspended from jet links, with hook fittings, length 5cm The earrings are in good condition. There is a small chip to the back edge of one of the jet oval drops and some light wear to the edges of the portraits. Gross weight 8.2 grams. Condition Report made 8th March 2017.
