INDIAN ARTIST, early to mid 19th century. A portrait of a guru on horseback with attendants, the central figure with a halo and canopy above held by one of the attendants whilst another attendant uses a fly whisk, two armed soldiers in British uniform process in front of the horse, within a verdant landscape with clouds beyond, Sikh, probably Pahari, gouache heightened with gold, 9.5"" x 7"". Provenance: A gentleman`s residence in Kensington, London W8.
GUO DASHENG (20th century) A portrait of Lu Xun (1879-1936), inscribed, titled and dated in the margin in pencil, woodblock print, 7"" x 6.5"". This portrait of the pre-eminent literary and artistic figure Lu Xun may well be after a photograph of the artist taken in 1936 by the photo-journalist Sha Fei at the second National Travelling Woodcut Exhibition in Shanghai. Provenance: The Collection of the late John Walden (1925-2013).
A Queen Anne Silver Royal Commemorative Box, circa 1710, oval, the lid inset with a double sided silver gilt medallion of King Charles I and Queen Henrietta Maria by Thomas Rawlins (circa 1620-1670), the underside engraved with a portrait of Queen Anne with angel supporters over St Paul`s Cathedral and the date 1709, 8.2cm wide In very good overall condition for a piece of this age. Some of the gilt on the medallion on the li (upper side) quite heavily devoid of gilt. The box has been later altered, a new hinge fully replacing the original and the sides of the box raised up. 290513
