This portrait of the pre-eminent literary and artistic figure Lu Xun may well be after a photograph of the artist taken in 1936 by the photo-journalist Sha Fei at the second National Travelling Woodcut Exhibition in Shanghai. A Queen Anne Silver Royal Commemorative Box, circa 1710, oval, the lid inset with a double sided silver gilt medallion of King Charles I and Queen Henrietta Maria by Thomas Rawlins (circa 1620-1670), the underside engraved with a portrait of Queen Anne with angel supporters over St Paul`s Cathedral and the date 1709, 8.2cm wide In very good overall condition for a piece of this age. Some of the gilt on the medallion on the li (upper side) quite heavily devoid of gilt. The box has been later altered, a new hinge fully replacing the original and the sides of the box raised up. 290513
