A rare and interesting moulded Jug c. 1863, probably Albion Saltglaze by Brownfield of Cobridge, with the royal arms and profile portrait of Victoria to one side and Alexandra of Denmark, Princess of Wales to the other. This jug probably commemorates the marriage of Alexandra to Prince Edward in March 1863.
Sir Francis Chichester interest; an 'Ex Libris' portrait bookplate pamphlet signed and dedicated in blue ballpoint from "Francis Chichester" and within a longhand letter about his poor health, dated "RN Hosp 1st Aug 72", Sir Francis Chichester died in the Royal Naval Hospital at Stonehouse, Plymouth, on August 26th 1972, together with newspaper cuttings and a small photographic portrait believed to be Francis Chichester as a child (a lot)
An impressive Copeland Art Union Tazza, dated 1863, designed by John Leighton to commemorate the death of Prince Albert, printed in colours with elaborate decoration, a portrait of the late Prince Consort in the centre surrounded by allegorical representations of Art, Science and Literature, flanked by winged maidens displaying emblems of his many achievements, base marked Copeland Art Union of London 1863, 16½in (42cm) diameter. Note: Prince Albert had been a loyal supporter of the Art Union movement. To mark his death Copelands were commissioned by the Union committee to manufacture a tazza which could also function as a card tray. Sixty of the tazzas were distributed in 1862 and one hundred the following year.
A late 19thC continental stoneware circular Plaque, painted in coloured enamels in the Renaissance style with a portrait of a young woman wearing a hat, printed signature bottom left "J. Wiesenbach" and indistinctly initialled, 13in (33cm) diameter, framed, the reverse numbered "40 - 90", rough edge, possibly originally a large tile.
