RACKHAM, Arthur, two early original pencil sketches: 'Horning Ferry' and 'Portrait of a Gentleman' (2) These are early sketches and quite possibly relate to the period when Rackham had work commission by the publishers, Carson and Comerford. The sketches are mounted and framed, but do not appear to be signed. The provenance for these items is from his daughter, Barbara Rackham, who sold her father's effects through Phillips Auctioneers of Bayswater (now part of Bonhams Auctioneers) on 4 May 1990. The Phillips auction lot descriptions remain attached to the back of each portrait.
