Donald Gilbert (1900-1961) A bronze sculpture of a crouching monkey, raised on a stepped variagated stone plinth base, signed in the bronze `D. Gilbert 1920`, (plinth repaired) 29cm high overall Donald Gilbert was a sculptor and artist. He had studied at the Birmingham Central School of Art, The Royal College of Art and The Royal Academy. His works include busts of John Logie Baird (on display at the National Portrait Gallery, London) and Edward Elgar at the Guildhall Worcester. He also designed many wares for the Denby Pottery and Ashtead Pottery.
AUTOGRAPHS, THE BEATLES. – Four black and white promotional portrait photographs. [N.p.: n.d. but circa 1964-1965.] (Each approx 202 x 146mm.) Each photograph signed by the sitter, comprising: John Lennon in red ink, Ringo Starr in blue felt-tip, Paul McCartney in blue ballpoint and George Harrison in blue ballpoint. (Minor soiling, corners slightly knocked.) Provenance: Beverly Battersby.
AUTOGRAPHS. – George HARRISON. A black and white promotional portrait photograph. [N.p.: n.d. but circa 1964-1965.] (215 x 165mm.) The photograph signed in blue ballpoint pen. (Corners knocked and slightly creased). – And seventeen further promotional photographs, most signed, including three by Cilla Black (18).
BELGRAVE, D.T.C., and others (artists). An album containing approximately 77 drawings in pen and ink or pencil, [circa 1890-1910]. Folio (407 x 280mm.) Including 20 signed by Belgrave, subjects include cartoons, portrait studies and landscapes, also including a few prints. (Some spotting and light soiling.) Original half-morocco (worn, many leaves now loosely inserted).

Contemporary tree-calf, by Riviere & Son, the spine gilt in six compartments with raised bands, blue morocco lettering piece in the second, the others with repeat decoration in gilt, gilt turn-ins, g.e. – And five other leather-bound poetical works, including three others bound by Riviere & Son (6).
BINDINGS. – L.E. STEELE (editor). Essays of Richard Steele. London & New York: 1907. 8vo (150 x 96mm.) Portrait frontispiece. Contemporary red half-morocco, the spine gilt in three compartments with raised bands, lettered in the first and third, the second with a foliate motif. – And twenty-four others, leather-bound (25).
