E W H oil on canvas laid on board - three quarter portrait of a seated boy cradling pull-along soft-toy, initialled and dated 1906, 25.5 x 18ins (63 x 46cms) Provenance: unknown artist but the sitter was a member of a later-based South Wales Jewish family who fled to South Africa prior to WWII. There is a Durban gallery label to the reverse, the painting was gifted to the vendor's family by the sitter's family.

The illustrations have been drawn on zinc plates and each printed separately by direct or offset lithography. Each page of type has been set by hand and printed on a small platen press. Finally, the text and illustrations have been assembled and bound together. Necessarily, because of the tremendous labour involved it is a very limited edition which, as the printing plates have been destroyed, cannot be repeated.'
