Michael Slusakowicz Luisa, 2022 Oil on Primed Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About Michael Slusakowicz works predominantly in painting, drawing and video. Specifically, in painting, Michael produces work in sequential series. His work confronts us with a paranormal mystery in each painting. He wishes to capture the intimate moments of time, like the flicker of the candlelit flame. Michael's supernatural figures and esoteric objects almost seem invisible from the choice of an analogous colour palette, but with careful investigation, one can reveal their embodied cognition. The imagery often penetrates a veiled side of contemporary society; it searches for the pure core of humanity with its dark and bright aspects, its needs and desires, and its braveness and fears. Education Camberwell College of Arts / UAL Select Exhibitions/Awards Royal Society of Portrait Painter Annual Exhibition 2022, Huesos Impíos - The Gallery at Green & Stone 2022, Royal Society of Portrait Painter Annual Exhibition 2021, Summer Exhibition 2021 at Gallery at Green & Stone Gallery Representation The Gallery at Green & Stone, London, UK / Materna Y Herencia Galería de Arte, Madrid, Spain. Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork My latest collection of paintings, enigmatically called in Spanish "HUESOS IMPÍOS" further explores my continuous interest in colour and mood. I believe in the purity of creativity in the moment and I follow it without questioning. Random images come to my mind in the process, that I can only describe as a channelling. Through working in this way I tap into this subconscious dream world both familiar and removed from reality. These spontaneously composed paintings interact with each other through key, tonality, colour and repeated imagery, allowing the viewer to create their own interpretation and interwoven narrative. As a result, there becomes a lot of space for the viewer to insert their own histories and ideas when appreciating these works, leading to a more personal experience. Message from Art On A Postcard: Please do not bid if you intend to sell on the artwork. All artworks have been generously donated by the artists to raise money for The Hepatitis C Trust and when work is sold on the secondary market, it damages our relationship with the artist and prevents us from fundraising.

Holly Frean 1926 - 2022, 2022 Oil on Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About Holly Frean began her formal training in architecture, before completing a BA (Hons) Fine Art at City & Guilds of London Art School, UK. Building a busy studio practice in London and Berlin lead to early exhibitions at the Chelsea Arts Club and other exhibition venues. Early work as a portrait painter developed into the witty, diverse and accomplished style she is known for today. Frequent art historical visual references to both specific paintings and artists contrast with a light-hearted humour edged with wry observations of our reading of art. Holly has shown extensively in the UK and North America with Rebecca Hossack Gallery, ZimmerStewart, Blue Print Gallery, Lawrence Alkin Gallery and has had solo further shows at Paul Smith's London flagship store. Holly has been invited to show work as part of the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition on a number of occasions. Awards include the 2012 National Open Art Competition Painting Prize (awarded by Grayson Perry). Commissions are numerous and are an ongoing part of Holly's practice alongside developing new bodies of work. Recent patrons include the Duchess of Northumberland, Betty Jackson, Russell Howard, Ricky Gervais, Kit Kemp, Russell Tovey and Johnny Boden. Running parallel to Holly's painting are a growing number of textile, ceramics and wallpaper collaborations and partnerships with prestigious brands including Anthropologie, Andrew Martin, Burberry, Paul Smith, Little Greene Paint Co, Chick'N'Sours. Holly has a new card range published via ArtPress and is represented by Bridgeman Images for image licensing. Message from Art On A Postcard: Please do not bid if you intend to sell on the artwork. So, this is a detail of a larger work and in it is a common thread that links many of my paintings: a white circle of protection. The deer in Native American culture is a call for gentleness. BEEP Painting Prize, Swansea, Wales Gallery Representation Rise Art Singulart Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork My practice is painting and drawing based. Different outlooks on landscape form my process including: environmental climate concerns; the benefits and hopeful outlook of landscape through re-wilding; rhythms and cycles of landscape seasons and the co-existence of humans within the environment. These images are formed around the motif of the banana plant, which has been a re-occurring subject within my work since travelling to India in 2018. I found a lasting connection with the banana plant form; it has taken on the resonance of a figure within my compositions, playing a central focus in the images. Their forms are delicate, somewhat abstracted, spiralling from a central column to produce these dominant, distinct structures. They describe fragility of living as much as the opportunity of prospering. Message from Art On A Postcard: Please do not bid if you intend to sell on the artwork. They describe fragility of living as much as the opportunity of prospering. Message from Art On A Postcard: Please do not bid if you intend to sell on the artwork. Allan Martin These Dark Woods/Distance, 2022 Oil on Gessoed Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About I work from photographic references most often changing and montaging elements so a 'place' doesn't exist but is created. Tones can be radically manipulated, it is not my intention to then simply translate this source in the process of painting, I wish to achieve a further shift, something present which is unknown, a finished painting I don't fully understand. Grids are often present in my work, while useful in constructing a painting I also rework, redraw and edit them so traces remain. A continually evolving series 'These Dark Woods' which allows nature to speak of the human condition and more includes these marks which can allude to maps, scales, cross-hairs, crosses and more. @allanmartinartist Education Studied Printed Textile Design at Glasgow School of Art. Self-taught as a painter. Before that worked as a graphic designer, often within the music industry which latterly included collaborative photography with Annie Lennox and many other projects together. Select Exhibitions/Awards Selected for the Royal Academy, ING Discerning Eye, National Open Art Competition. A finalist in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year. Sixty nine works included in the collection of the Hotel de Crillon, Paris. Work also in the Soho House collections of Babington House and The Farmhouse, private collections in the UK, Ireland, France, USA, Australia, and Chile. Collaborative photographic portraits with Annie Lennox are in the collection of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork As unusually small works, I decided to explore within the series 'These Dark Woods' - the works are of locations where something unknown has or is about to happen. Rosalind Hobley Dahlias I, 2022 Cyanotype on Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About Rosalind Hobley is an artist living and working in London. She originally trained as a figurative sculptor, and for her portraits and still lifes she works with studio lighting to define shape and form. She uses the early 19th Century technique of Cyanotype because it allows an extra layer of unpredictability. Brushstrokes, blur and loss of definition are all part of the process. The details recede, and the shape and mass of the subjects enhanced. Her subjects become sculptural and mysterious, floating in the blue. Education BA Hons in Fine Art Sculpture from Maidstone College of Art. Select Exhibitions/Awards Recipient of the Create Church St Grant; LCN Scholarship; awarded first place in the Alternative Processes Series of the 16th Julia Margaret Cameron Award, and an Honourable Mention in the Portrait Series. Prints selected for the RA Summer Exhibition 2021, the 6th Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography in Barcelona 2021, the Turner Contemporary Open 2021 and 'A Generous Space/Artist Support Pledge' at Hastings Contemporary 2021-22, and the RA Summer Exhibition 2022. Work featured in 'Your Daily Photograph' by Duncan Miller Gallery, The Marginalian, and Colossal website. Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork I have submitted two flower studies. Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork I grew up on a small farm in the north of Italy: my house was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fields and I can remember them changing colors with the natural cycle of the seasons. In that small corner of Earth, there was nothing, and yet I had everything I needed to feel blissful, I was surrounded by Life in every form. In my work, I still seek that Life's presence: I want to perceive, explore, and celebrate it as ineffable and precious. My submitted works are the result of the observation of the world around me, which I attentively approach and never ceases to amaze me. I drew "The Young Robin" because robins are regular visitors in my garden and I enjoyed seeing the young robins changing their feathers' color. They are now ready to face the world with the first gust of wind and unfold their secret geometry in the sky. It is a drawing of hope for the future. Grayson Perry RA Study for The Great Beauty (1), 2022 Ink on Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About Perry studied at Braintree College of Further Education from 1978 to 1979 and graduated from Portsmouth Polytechnic in 1982. He was awarded the Turner Prize in 2003. He works in a variety of mediums but is best known as a ceramicist. There is a dissonance between the conventional forms of his vessels and the depictions that adorn them. He uses imagery and text to chronicle social concerns, his own formative experiences and to tell the story of his alter ego, Claire. He grew up in Hove, where he studied architecture before moving to London where he worked as an architect and designer. After moving to Hong Kong he quickly gained notoriety with sold-out exhibitions, solo shows, collaborative projects, private and commercial commissions with iconic brands such as Prada and Louis Vuitton. Characterised by bright colours and popular cultural references, Szabotage's visual language is high impact. His collections range from walls, canvases, prints, and cars to sculptures, stencils and NFTs. He constantly challenges limitations and enjoys creating his art and sculptures using deconstructed aerosol cans, metals and wood. In the digital space, NFTs allow him to add extra dimensions using animation and sound. Szabotage's Koi tag is easily recognisable. The Koi represents strength, adversity and good fortune. In a natural extension of the artist's street art practice, Szabotage interprets this hallowed personality through his signature stencil language. This portrait features stencils in the background relating to Amy's particular journey to greatness and destruction. He painted Amy as a way to commemorate one of the biggest influences in the British music scene who sadly died too young. After painting Frida Kahlo in 2018 and seeing how influential and fruitful yet tragic her life was, he realised that he could respond to her story and paint her passionately, which he wanted to continue with Amy. My small-scale compositions offer a glimpse into everyday moments of domestic life and aims to highlight the emotionality of daily simple tasks. Within these settings, I provide a safe space for my female figures, in which they can exist without a hypercritical gaze - and are often accompanied by a feline friend. In this way, my work can be read overall as a love letter to women - the women I have grown up with, the women artists I have admired, and the female relationships that have been so important to me. Thomas Hamlet, Princes Street, Leicester Square. An 18K gold key wind open face pocket watchDate: Circa 1810Movement: Cylinder, 3-arm balance with compensation curb, diamond end stone, two polished hammers striking on two gongsDial: Guilloche engraved gilt, black Roman numerals to brushed surround, offset subsidiary seconds at 3, blued steel Breguet style handsCase: Engine turned hinged round, No.4149Signed: Case stamped NSize: 47mm Accompaniments: Fitted original box with M of L monogram and coronetFootnotes:The accompanying box is monogrammed M of L in relation to the Marjoribanks family of Lees near Coldstream in the Scottish borders. The Hon Alicia Marjoribanks was the youngest daughter of David Robertson MP (of Ladykirk) and married Sir Henry Day Ingilby of Ripley Castle and Harrington Hall (Lincs) on 26th June 1862. Her father was the Lord Lieutenant of Berwickshire and his portrait can still be found at Ripley. Alicias uncle Edward Robertson was appointed as a partner of Coutts Bank by Thomas Coutts in 1797. He remained partner until his death in 1836 and similarly a portrait of him also hangs at Ripley, presently in the dining room. Alicia and Henry had two children, Henry and Mary: tragically in the space of just 14 months in 1872/3 both children died of meningitis aged four and nine respectively. Shortly after this Alicias father was run over by a horse drawn bus just 7 days after being ennobled as Lord Marjoribanks of Lees. The M or L on this original box is thus very unique as it was commissioned just before his untimely passing which also saw the extinction of the title. Lots 12-19 form part of the Ripley Castle Collection. Located three miles from Harrogate on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Ripley Castle has been the seat of the Ingilby family since the 14th century. Sir Thomas Ingliby (c. 1290–1352) married the heiress, Edeline Thwenge in 1308/9 and acquired the Ripley Castle estate with its medieval manor house as her dowry. While hunting, their eldest son, Thomas (1310–1369), saved Edward III from being attacked by a wild boar and was duly knighted with the boar's head incorporated into the Ingilby family crest. Subsequent generations of the Ingilby family have survived periods of political and religious turmoil and witnessed great societal change. Today, the Ingilby family still live at Ripley Castle and have been opening it to the public since 1954.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

NOTE:Erich Wichman, officially Wichmann, was a Dutch artist, eccentric, anti-parliamentary troublemaker, co-founder of the 'Rapaillepartij', anti-bourgeois writer and, towards the end of his life, attracted to fascism. From 1914 on, he would devote himself entirely to art and the following years were characterized by Wichmann's search for affiliation with the Dutch contemporary art world. He became involved in numerous art and artist groups. In 1916 he was married to Leni Kampfraat, a diamond polisher. At the same time, the collaboration with the Utrecht Silver Factory van Begeer started. Between 1917 and 1919 he manufactured all kinds of decorative and everyday objects at Begeer. However, he did not succeed in breaking through definitively. Wichman repeatedly turned to Begeer for financial support, as can be read in 'Geest, koolzuur en zijk. Briefwisseling'. Verz. en toegel. d. F.J. Haffmans. - This "maskerkop", is painted in an expressionistic way and fairly similar to a self-portrait from the same year in the Centraal Museum, Utrecht. Only some 50 paintings were made by Wichman in the period 1912-1928, according to Van Burkom (2019). From the estate of C.A.J.
